Battersea and Wandsworth Trade Union Council is preparing to commemorate the action of its founder John Burns, MP for Battersea and a working class Cabinet Minister, who left the government in protest when Britain entered the First World War, with a walking tour, on Saturday 9 August.

We’ll be running a stall at the TUC Unionlearn Conference this coming Monday morning the 23rd June at Congress House, so if you’re attending please come and see us.
The TUC Library will be running a stall at the the Social Justice Summer School, which will launch on the afternoon of Friday 11 July and be followed by a full programme of lectures, workshops, posters, performances and other activities on Saturday 12 July.
The event is intended to be a celebration of the university’s longstanding commitment to social justice through its teaching, research and community engagements.
As well as showcasing and celebrating all that is great about our university the event will also be a lot of fun with a range of activities to engage families including film screenings, music and a barbeque.
